About Me
- Name: Carl in Jerusalem
- Location: Jerusalem, Israel
I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Four of our children are married! Before I started blogging I was a heavy contributor on a number of email lists and ran an email list called the Matzav from 2000-2004. You can contact me at: IsraelMatzav at gmail dot com

Hi Carl.
I guess anyone would feel not to great with the little sleep you had these last days.
have a peacefull Sabbath.
Will.
Will,
More likely the amount of caffeine I ingested yesterday is causing the problems.
That level of sleep is routine for me during the week. But because of all the traffic yesterday, I spent a lot of extra time behind the wheel crawling (literally) and drank way too much of that 'energy drink.' Especially after I found it on sale for NIS 4 (a little more than $1) when I stopped for gas for the last time. The wife counted nine empty cans in the garbage bag (seven of them from the way home).
Feel better! And Shabbat Shalom to you, Mrs. Carl and all those bambinos! The drive sounds terrible, but the hike sounds great. Maybe I'll check out going there if/when I get over there again. I need to look on the map to see where you're talking about relevant to Hagoshrim, which is where we stayed in the North.
Sunlight,
It's actually quite close to HaGoshrim.
You go to Kiryat Shmona, hang a right (north) and it's about ten kilometers north from there on your right. And on the way you pass Misgav Am, the place I've talked about where you can look right into Lebanon. That turnoff is about 2-3 km. north of Kiryat Shmona on your left.
