It must be out of sympathy with the 'Palestinians'

More Muslims are now being murdered in terror attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan than in the Middle East.
An increase in terrorist attacks in Pakistan and Afghanistan triggered a spike in the number of civilians killed or wounded there last year, pushing South Asia past the Middle East as the top terror region in the world, according to figures compiled by a U.S. intelligence agency.

Thousands of civilians — overwhelmingly Muslim — continue to be slaughtered in extremist attacks, contributing to the instability of the often shaky, poverty-stricken governments in the region, the statistics compiled by the National Counterterrorism Center show.

The struggling nations provide havens for terrorists who are increasingly targeting the U.S. and other Western nations. At the same time, U.S.-led operations against insurgents increased in both countries.

"The numbers, to a certain extent, are a reflection of where the enemy is regathering," said Juan Zarate, a top counterterrorism official in the Bush administration who is now senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

"So, to the extent we are seeing more attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan, it's a reflection of resistance to U.S. policy and presence as well as a strategic shift by groups like al Qaeda and foreign jihadis to concentrate where they think they will be most effective," he said.
And I'm sure they're murdering each other because they're hoping it will solve the 'Palestinian problem.' Yeah, that must be it.

If only Israel were more accommodating, all the violence in the Muslim World would be over.

Yeah, sure.

In this linked article, the word "jihad" shows up once, in paragraph 5 as "jihadis", and no other time.

There is a new argument the anti-Zios are making: that Israel is doomed with time to become an apartheid state in which a Jewish minority (John Mearsheimer of "The Jewish Lobby" fame calls them the "New Afrikaners") is ruling over a restive Palestinian Arab majority (he doesn't say it but I guess they are the "New Blacks.") In such a world, liberal American Jews will no longer support Israel because in his view, policies of ethnic domination and segregation that constitute the core of apartheid would be abhorrent to them. The rest of the world, particularly the West would not accept Jewish minority domination of millions of Arabs and so the Zionist dream would die, shipwrecked between the Israel's isolation from the world and facing ever increasing resistance from the Arabs within the country.

Anyway, this how Mearsheimer sees Israel's future:

"The bottom line is that Israel will not be able to maintain itself as an apartheid state over the long term, because it will not be able to depend on the American Jewish community to defend its loathsome policies toward the Palestinians. And without that protection, Israel is doomed, because public opinion in the West will turn decisively against Israel, as it turns itself into a full-fledged apartheid state."

"Thus, I believe that Greater Israel will eventually become a democratic bi-national state, and the Palestinians will dominate its politics, because they will outnumber the Jews in the land between the Jordan and the Mediterranean."

Ironically enough, the very people who want this to happen are not Israel's leaders, who do want, contrary to Mearsheimer's claims, a two state solution but rather the Palestinians who don't want it precisely because they believe they can outbreed the Jews in a couple of decades and achieve demographic and political dominance between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River. In fact, if Mearsheimer is right that Israel is doomed because the two-state solution is out of reach, then the Palestinians have no real interest in peace and co-existence with the Jews. Then I would say his thesis illustrates the fallacy of Palestinian moderation while it undermines his contrary thesis of Israeli Jewish extremism.
