In Israel, it's okay to say Haredim are 'sub-human'

God forbid you should make any racist comments about Arabs, but you can refer to Haredim (ultra-Orthodox Jews) the same way the Nazis did and you won't lose your job.
Following a discussion on Haredi-religious opposition to the building of a hospital ward on ancient graves, Channel 10 news anchor Yakov Alon introduced the next story by saying "and from Haredim we will now move on to human beings" (mi haredim naavor le ananashim).

MK Michael Ben-Ari slammed Alon for the racist remarks saying the comments revealed moral bankruptcy and said that Channel 10 broadcasts promote hatred in Israeli society. Channel 10 said in response that the anchor meant to say "and from graves we will now move on to human beings" (mi kevarim naavor le ananashim), but the station has yet to apologize.
Ben-Ari is not part of the coalition and nothing will come of his criticism. I guarantee you that Alon will suffer no consequences.

In a radio interview on Monday, he called his remarks a 'mistake.' Ta'iti (I made a mistake) is the excuse for everything in this country. I made a mistake and therefore I shouldn't suffer any consequences. If they suspend Alon for even one day I'll be shocked.

it's normal to do that. jews can call each other the worst names, but non-jews can't say those same things about jews. blacks can call each other the worst racial slurs, but whites can't call them the same. arabs can call each other names non-arabs will be sued for if they do it to them.

it's not good that disgusting things are tolerated under certain conditions, but it seems this is a phenomena that seems to be a occur everywhere.

How is that "racist"? It's an evaluation of religious practices.

It's not a very nice thing to say. And he probably shouldn't have said it.

But it's hardly "racist".

Anti-Semitism is rife among Jews. I used to think it was a marginal phenomenon but what can you say about Jews who want Jews murdered and who would like to see Israel destroyed? There are educated Jews who simply hate Jews and who are indifferent if not downright hostile to the existence of the Jewish State altogether. And "Sinat Kinam" unfortunately is by no means a modern phenomenon and as long as there have been Jews, they still haven't found out how to love each other, as the Channel 10 commentator's remark so vividly attests.

What people like Alon should do is take the hareidi children away from their parents, cut off their pais, give them treife, make them work on Shabbes, blow cigarette in their face on Shabbes and forcibly secularize them.
However people like Alon would never think of doing that-sarc
