Another pro-Israel Republican candidate
Jennifer Rubin had an email from another Republican campaign: Florida's Marco Rubio. A spokesman for Marco Rubio e-mails me, “Mr. Rubio believes that, by making unilateral demands on the Israeli government regarding settlements, the White House took away Israel’s leverage and has sent a message that America is not as committed to Israel as it once had been.”Rubio is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for the Senate from Florida.
The only thing that bothers me about emails like that is that I don't believe that it's America that's 'not as committed' to Israel. It's Obama who is trying to sever America's commitment to Israel. Poll after poll shows that the American people don't feel that way.

I believe polls are very misleading. They are similar to jury polls which frame questions in a certain way that few answer honestly. In the case of Israel no one except the outward antisemites wear their disdain. Actually, they blame it on everything except what it really is.
On the other side of the coin Pro-Israel means nothing except to make us feel good. Again, during the 8 years Bush was President there were practically no ripples from Conservative hierarchy as to his missteps with Israel.
Bottom line, Obama is completely miserable. There is nothing I like about him. Matter of fact I truly loath him. However when push comes to shove no elected official who truly claims support for Israel is going to stick their neck out for the sake of Israel. Politics as usual above honor and truth forbid it.
If you go back and read the comments Obama made to AIPAC they were not dissimilar to those of George Bush or Clinton, etc.
While Obama stated he was pro undivided Jerusalem he did not vow to sign the embassy act. Bush claimed to be both pro Jerusalem and sign the embassy act. In the end, failure to sign the embassy act (as one example) proves they all sing to the choir. They say what WE WANT TO HEAR.
There is no litmus test.
The fast speeding train thanks to those before Obama made it ripe for an Israel hater like himself to bring us to where we are today.

This is exactly what I mean. Rubio is speaking as though the settlement issue was not treated as dirty laundry before Obama.
Where was the voice of reason when the Bush administration took Israel to task on settlement? Furthermore, where was the voice of reason when time and time again the Bush administration spoke of a viable and contiguous Palestinian state?
Granted, nothing Bush did was like a hammer upon the head of Israel like the hammer of Obama and company. After all, Bush was very subtle and we were in euphoria over our best friend. My point is about broken promises, not who breaks them the hardest and with the most vengeance.
Vote Republican because of conservative beliefs but don't vote Republican because of a supposed pro-Israel stance.
