Steven Plaut's classic satire shows that the root of the conflict is existential.
No amount of territorial concessions will settle it. The Palestinians are not interested in a two state solution. They want one state - with an Arab majority and themselves in charge from the Jordan River to the Sea. And they have never budged from this objective.
The Israeli government is still denying reality and evading the 1948 issues does the country no good.
Jennifer Rubin has some good observations about that ElLiot Abrams article and the bottom line is for those who don't want to read the whole thing is the following devastating conclusion about what the Obami's treatment of Israel means for the country and the Free World:
They see, sadly, the reality of the Obama White House — an administration that is frittering away America’s standing in the world and fast losing its reputation as a defender of democracy, human rights, and freedom. Israel is the immediate victim, but the entire world will become more dangerous and less free as a result.
