'Palestinians' nearly kidnapped another soldier?

The IDF said it had no comment regarding a claim by Palestinian Islamic Jihad that they nearly kidnapped an IDF soldier whose hang glider drifted into Gaza.
The organization's military wing, Al-Quds Brigades, said in a statement that floods in the area on the border between central Gaza and Israel had prevented the abduction of the soldier.

According to Israeli media, Islamic Jihad claims to have video footage of the attempted abduction, "which will be aired in due time."

The soldier's glider reportedly landed to the east of al-Bureij refugee camp, according to the pro-Iranian group. The IDF has not commented on the claim.
Could someone please explain to me why we would be sending human beings around the border area on hang gliders when the IDF has so many types of UAV's (unmanned aerial vehicles) at its disposal? Or was this just some idiot freelancing? Or was the story made up by Palestinian Islamic Jihad?

Of course, the picture at the top is Gilad Shalit, who was kidnapped by the 'Palestinians' three and a half years ago.

I'm sure it was made up by Islamic Jihad. But if a soldier was in fact sent in to do reconnaissance, heads should roll in the IDF.
