Hagel to chair Intelligence Advisory Board
A month ago, I reported on the possibility that former Senator Chuck Hagel would replace Robert Gates as Secretary of Defense. Hagel is a longtime opponent of Israel. Now, there's even worse news. Hagel is to chair President Obumbler's Intelligence Advisory Board. During his two terms in the Senate, which ended earlier this year, Hagel directed sweeping criticisms against Jewish supporters of Israel, while at the same time making comments defending Yasser Arafat. He also opposed economic sanctions on Iran in a bill sponsored by then-Senator Barack Obama.What could go wrong?
In a statement, the White House said the Intelligence Board’s role is to “provide the president with an independent source of advice on intelligence matters,” including the “quality, quantity and adequacy of intelligence activities,” the “effectiveness of organization structure, management and personnel” and the performance of all federal agencies involved in intelligence collection or policy.
The Republican Jewish Coalition criticized the appointment as “a matter for serious concern.” RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks (who is a subscriber to this email list) said: “A review of Hagel’s record over the years on these issues reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of the Middle East and of the nature of the threats to U.S. interests in the region. Placing him in a sensitive role in the intelligence community, where he will advise the president on the effectiveness of intelligence community assessments of global issues, is very troubling.”

I feel like crying...this is a disaster, and you saw it coming. I would hope that the Jews who are stupid enough to vote Demonrat will hear about this before they vote Tuesday, and wake up. I can dream, can't I?
The One must be kvelling over what he thinks is his brilliance. I hope it will be the beginning of the end of this long national, and world-wide nightmare..and it is only November.
Anyone who thinks that Hussein is a friend of Israel and the Jews? They need psychiatric care, at the least, but then they probably don't care in the first place.
Here's a bit of a research assignment for everyone: Dig deeply into Hagel's background to expose his ties to Saudi and other Arab money, oil interests, conflicts of interest. Betcha there's a whole bunch of stuff we can pile on over to those who can expose the fraud. It's going to be there.
Depends on whether it requires Senate confirmation... his nomination could still be derailed... leaving Hagel's antipathy to Israel aside, its not good news.
BHO nominates yet another anti-Israel guy to his administration and this is a surprise...how?
NY Nana, US Jews are voting for BHO not because of his stand on Israel but because he is so "progressive" on things like abortion, illegal immigration and border control, peace through appeasement, etc...
I am sorry to say that the vast majority of US Jews are now so assimilated that they couldn't care less about Israel. I am not the only one saying that by the way. I am a member of a Chabad shul and many rabbis I meet both here in Canada and in the US all say that there is a vast difference between US Jews and non-US Jews. The level of assimilation in the US is a true disaster for Yiddishkeit and this is why the US Jewish Community cannot be counted on for unqualified support of Israel's safety and security. BHO knows that and he is exploting it masterfully.
