UN General Assembly to discuss Goldstone November 4

The United Nations General Assembly will discuss the Goldstone Commission Report on November 4, which is next Wednesday. The Arab League will propose General Assembly will decide to accept the report and refer it to the United Nations Security Council for further consideration.
"The Arab group is requesting that the report... be debated in the General Assembly in early November," said Arab League representative Yahya Mahmassani, who was conveying the request in a letter to Assembly president Ali Triki.

Discussions would definitely now go ahead "probably on November 4," Mahmassani told AFP.

He said the Arab League's intention was to propose the General Assembly pass a resolution approving the Goldstone report and "requesting the (UN) Security Council to take it" up in formal debate.
The real battle will be in the Security Council, where Israel must count on the United States, Russia, China, Britain and/or France to veto any binding action on the report, including referral to the International Criminal Court.

What could go wrong?

The UN nations have been waiting to pounce, and used the opportunity they created themselves. Goldstone is a twisted piece of crap, yes, but he is merely an agent in the pay of the UN.

The formal UN adoption of the report marks the formal end of the "peace process" era. Nothing is going to happen for a long time to come on that front. Which is the silver lining to the Goldstone saga.
