Mahnaimi raises hysteria again
An article in Sunday's Times of London, which is co-authored by Uzi Mahnaimi, raises nightmare scenarios regarding US - Israel relations. In recent cables from Washington to Jerusalem, senior Israeli diplomats have warned that Obama is losing patience and rethinking America’s whole relationship with Israel.I believe that Obama has been
Already US officials have stopped regular consultations with the Israeli prime minister’s office and defence ministry over strategic issues in the Middle East.
“There are some arguing that the best way to deal with Israel is to cut aid, cut co-operation and demand they act, but I believe all they would do is dig in their heels, circle their wagons and say: we can’t afford to take risks on our security,” said [former US ambassador to Israel, Martin] Indyk, who was one of the negotiators at Camp David. “The whole approach of this administration is to reassure Israel on strategic issues like Iran and security while making clear this administration wants to achieve a two-state solution.”
On the other hand, this report was partly written by Uzi Mahnaimi, which means that it has to be taken with a grain of salt. If Mahnaimi was right, we would have attacked Iran three years ago.
Suffice it to say that Israelis do not feel 'reassured on Iran, and that Prime Minister Netanyahu plans to devote his entire UN General Assembly speech to that subject (report on Israel Radio late last night - Netanyahu has already left for New York and may be there by now). That ought to tell you how little priority he places on the 'Palestinians.'
Here's a summary of Netanyahu's view on the 'summit' taking place on Tuesday among himself, President Obama and Abu Mazen.
While a statement from Mr Netanyahu’s office said the premier “warmly accepted the invitation”, officials close to him conveyed pessimism about the gathering’s outcome. One Israeli official, who declined to be identified, was quoted as telling reporters: “There’ll… be some kind of handshake because this is what Obama wants. But it’s not going anywhere longer term … with all due respect to Obama, this is not realistic. Everyone wants a process, but nobody actually wants peace – because peace, you have to pay for.”That sums it up alright.

There may be a "photo opportunity" with the Palestinians but its not going to be remembered as leading to a breakthrough - because the Palestinians do not want to talk to or seek peace with Israel. And there is not much even Obumbler can do when one of the two parties is not interested in negotiating in good faith.
What could go wrong indeed
hystery sells
None of the Obama administration’s treatment should be a surprise – to anyone. His life has been a process of laying his cards on the table with respect to his ideology(s). What is baffling is the fact that very few people yet seem to allow themselves to believe that what Obama was doing his best to show them, was the truth. He associated with and was schooled and mentored by cream of American radicals who enthusiastically propounded the violent overthrow of capitalism and nonchalantly planned the elimination of undesirables such as conservatives and others historically deemed to be true puppet masters of capitalism and profit – Jews. People refused to see what their lying eyes were telling them with regards to Obama’s bent toward Islam and now they’re somehow surprised and confused by his antipathy towards Israel. What I’m truly afraid of, is that people will be too late to open their eyes to the fact that target of his malice is not Israel – it’s Jews.
