EU drops quartet requirements on Hamas

Apparently led by France, the European Union has dropped the Quartet's three conditions for discussions with Hamas (recognition of Israel, renunciation of terrorism and adoption of PLO agreements with Israel) in the hope that it will help the terror organization to reach agreement with the 'good terrorists' of Fatah.
Instead, the statement said the foreign ministers expressed "continued encouragement for inter-Palestinian reconciliation behind [Palestinian Authority] President Mahmoud Abbas and support for the mediation efforts by Egypt and the Arab League."

The foreign ministers called "on all Palestinians to find common ground, based on nonviolence, in order to facilitate reconstruction in Gaza and the organization of elections."

The move to keep the three conditions out of the resolutions comes amid mounting concern in Jerusalem that Europe is slowly moving away from the three conditions on Hamas, which have been adopted both by the Quartet and the UN Security Council.

According to diplomatic sources, the French were trying to give Hamas "a way out," and felt that if the conditions were not always mentioned every statement, it might give the Islamist organization a chance to soften its positions and perhaps give a boost to Egyptian-brokered talks between Fatah and Hamas.
This should not come as a surprise to anyone. The Europeans - and especially the French - have been looking for an excuse to talk to Hamas since Day One (recall this and this), and unfortunately, the current American administration is inclined to think like the Europeans in this regard. It's only a matter of time until the Obumbler decides that it's okay if he decides to talk to Hamas.

America used to be a superpower. Now it just follows along like a middling international player. Middling international players talk to terror organizations because they view the world in shades of gray and don't understand that sometimes there is black and sometimes there is white.

Declare Hamastan a state already, let it control its own border with Egypt. Cut off all water and electricity until they sign treaties on access to these things. Inform them that a single bullet landing over the border is casus belli, and Israel will protect its citizens and its land with ferocity.

Once Hamastan is created, let anyone talk to it. Let it control its own sea and airspace.

The reason for this is you know, beyond any doubt that they will self destruct. There is too much shame within them for losing time after time to a bunch of jews. They will launch a missle, lob a projectile, fire a bullet.

Then you kick their ass. You do not play nice with them. Hit them, very hard, and then demand UN move them en-masse to a location where they cannot incite any more conflict.

It will also serve to erase any additional concessions demanded of Israel. If you cede land and it launches a war against you, it is insane to cede land. So don't.

Since the Europeans have dropped the Quartet conditions, Israel should to freeze them out of the talks and declare Tony Blair persona non grata in Jerusalem. The only way the Europeans will know Israel is serious about the Quartet conditions is when Europe faces consequences for dropping them.

No party, including ANY member of the so-called "quartet," should be permitted any role in mediating between Israel and ANY party that does not constitute a recognized representative of the Arabs living in Judea and Samaria and does not renounce terrorism.
