America's first Muslim President?
Writing in the Washington Times, Frank Gaffney says that while Barack Hussein Obama may not be a Muslim (and Gaffney now apparently believes even that is debatable), he certainly aligns with the policies of Shari'a adherents. Even more troubling were the commitments the president made in Cairo to promote Islam in America. For instance, he declared: "I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear." He vowed to ensure that women can cover their heads, including, presumably, when having their photographs taken for passports, driver's licenses or other identification purposes. He also pledged to enable Muslims to engage in zakat, their faith's requirement for tithing, even though four of the eight types of charity called for by Shariah can be associated with terrorism. Not surprisingly, a number of Islamic "charities" in this country have been convicted of providing material support for terrorism.Read the whole thing. This is frightening stuff.
Particularly worrying is the realignment Mr. Obama has announced in U.S. policy toward Israel. While he pays lip service to the "unbreakable" bond between America and the Jewish state, the president has unmistakably signaled that he intends to compel the Israelis to make territorial and other strategic concessions to Palestinians to achieve the hallowed two-state solution. In doing so, he ignores the inconvenient fact that both the Brotherhood's Hamas and Abu Mazen's Fatah remain determined to achieve a one-state solution, whereby the Jews will be driven "into the sea."
Whether Mr. Obama actually is a Muslim or simply plays one in the presidency may, in the end, be irrelevant. What is alarming is that in aligning himself and his policies with those of Shariah-adherents such as the Muslim Brotherhood, the president will greatly intensify the already enormous pressure on peaceful, tolerant American Muslims to submit to such forces - and heighten expectations, here and abroad, that the rest of us will do so as well.

There are no peaceful, tolerant American Muslims. A perusal of Debbie Schlussel's blog reveals they are anything but assimilated into America. Islam is incapable of being assimilated peacefully by any free society. The notion of a moderate and tolerant Islam is belied by the history and practice of the faith and its adherents.
Carl -- If I may ask; what is your personal take on this story, and the JPost one regarding the "Feel the hate" in JPost? I don't believe average Israelis have any hatred towards Obama. For clarification, I'm not linking the two stories but I'm wondering if there is a greater degree of distrust coming about?
Gaffney hit the nail on the head. Hussein's public pro-Islamism, whether or not he is in fact a Muslim (but I believe he is but won't say for fear of being charged with apostasy), Muslims in the US are growing bolder and more vocal - and they're getting into high places, helped by the witless media.
Now we have jihadists, like Esam Omeish, running for the Virginia General Assembly, and witless media propagandists, like Katie Couric, prattling about her visit to Saudi Arabia and how she bought her daughter an alarm clock that plays the Islamic call to prayer. Even worse is the appointment of Syrian-born Jihadist, Kareem Shora to a position on the Homeland Security Advisory Council reporting to Janet Napolitano. Then there are the pro-Muslim revisionist school textbooks and kids getting assignments to play Muslim for a week, where they're actually asked to recite the Shuhada. This converts them into Muslims. No wonder Hussein gave the wild figure of 7 million Muslims in the US. there is stealth conversion in the schools.
Frightening stuff, indeed.
...notice also how the "progressists" (and GWB) constantly have to remind us about the fact that Islam is a "religion of peace" and that "moderate Islam" stands for the same values as everyone else. When is the last time you saw anyone having to make the same claims about Judaism or Christianity? If Islam was a religion of peace, wouldn't we be able to see it and witness it every day? Would we have to be constantly reminded not to beleive our eyes?

I don't believe Obama is a practicing Muslims but he has nostalgia and outright sympathy for the period in which he (apparently) was one.
As to the 'Feel the hate' story, I covered the original video and said a lot about it here.
I'm surprised anyone has any doubt Obama's a Muslim...even those who didn't know the Quranic allusions in the speech, know that he himself once spoke of "my Muslim faith" (something that can only slip out as easy as "my father Suzie"), Qaddafi proclaimed it to the Arab League (after having been visited by both Louis Farrakhan and also Obama's Islam-trained, ex-Nation of Islam pastor for nearly 20 years Jeremiah Wright! For sure Qaddafi asked Wright about Obama's being a Muslim.) ... so much more, but it's so frustrating, nobody's listening.
