A good summary of where Israel stands with the 'Palestinians'
While there's a lot I don't agree with in this editorial, I thought the summary at the end is quite the realistic assessment of where Israel stands with the 'Palestinians.'Though Fatah and Hamas continue squabbling, they agree on two things: a rejection of Israel as a Jewish state, and a refusal to share this land with non-Muslims.But does Obama understand that?
If any plan presented by Netanyahu to Obama is going to matter, those attitudes have to change.

Ronen Shoval over at Ynet presents a novel perspective. He argues instead of talking about plans and changing the map, that it benefits Israel to live with the status quo:
In Praise Of The Status Quo
In other words, there is no reason for Israel to change a situation that works to its advantage. The point being that the current situation is the lesser of evils and not all problems are ever resolvable in a final sense of the word: poverty and crime for example, can be minimized but never eliminated. It is time to apply that same wisdom to the Israel-Palestinian conflict and just learn to make the best of a problem with no real solution for it.
NormanF,
I will read it, but I think I have made the same argument myself once or twice....
