Scowcroft to head National Intelligence Council?

It's not online yet, but I have a hard copy of the JPost. In today's column, Caroline Glick quotes 'congressional sources' as saying that Brent Scowcroft is to be named chairman of the National Intelligence Council in place of Chas Freeman.

From bad to worse.

More about Scowcroft here.

I feared an appointment like this would follow the Freeman fiasco.

It makes perfect sense from Obama's perspective.

With his service under several administrations and an aura of respectability, Scowcroft is largely immune to the criticism which scuttled the Freeman appointment.

But remember, Scowcroft is the man who within days of the Tiananmen Square massacre, was toasting champagne glasses with the Chi-Comms.

Akin to Montezuma's revenge, Scowcroft is Obama's revenge.

Agreed. Brent Scowcroft is the dean of the realists and he has had a track record under President Bush's father of cozying up to various dictatorships. History is full of irony and has now come full circle with the Democrats embracing an approach they once rejected.

Scowcroft was such a failure but he's back for more. Forward into the past with Obama.
