Obama sending love letter to Ayatollah Khameni

Gateway Pundit reports that President Barack Hussein Obama is planning to send a letter to Iranian leader Ayatollah Khameni.
The Obama administration is leaning toward making a major diplomatic overture to Iran before the country's presidential elections in June. This initiative could come in the form of a letter from President Obama to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to two senior European diplomats who have met in recent weeks with key State Department officials crafting a new US policy toward Iran.

The letter would be aimed at initiating talks over the Iranian nuclear program and Iran's role in neighboring Iraq and Afghanistan, the diplomats said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

It would be the first formal communication between an American president and Iran's leadership since Washington cut diplomatic ties with Tehran following the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
I'm sure that Iran would be just peachy keen to sit and talk with Obama. And to keep building those nuclear weapons while it's talking.

The Iranians are delighted by Obama's cluelessness and being the good souk dealers they are they will extract everything useful from him and then spit him out and throw him away when its all over.

Hopenchange, any one?

I read in Foreign Affairs last month where it was suggested that Obama could do a carrot and stick approach with Tehran.
Simultaneously an approach to Syria that could drive a wedge between Iran and Syria.
With these moves and with perceived discussions about the Palestinian situation, Iran would lose some leverage, coupled with lower oil prices, the Nuclear program could be halted through pressure and the ability to make that halt more palatable, which could prevent war.

Michael Blackburn,

Huh? What 'sticks' does Obama have with Tehran when they cannot get anyone to stop trading with them?

Carl is right - with Iran its all carrots and no sticks. With Israel the approach appears to be the reverse - all sticks and no carrots. Its insane!
