I thought Ariel Zilber's article was one of the funniest writeups of Ehud Olmert I've ever read.
It was only yesterday the Left hated him with a passion and used Manny Mazuz to get rid of him. Now they're suddenly discovering he was good for them along!
These people have no sense of principle or honor. No wonder they lost big in the past election and not in the least precisely because their hitched the star... you will never guess it - to one aforementioned Ehud K. Olmert!
Is the author's article the famous Ariel Zilber, the singer-turned-right-winger who moved to Gush Katif before the eviction? If so, was this article written tongue-in-cheek?
Alan, could be. Its funny and humor gets lost on leftists. The point is they have no principles and no values and we can take a good guess at who most of the Kadima voters are. Why would any sane person in Israel affect respect for Olmert? So it must be satire and Haaretz I think, missed the real point. You're supposed to laugh at such easily led people who would take a crook seriously!
I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Four of our children are married! Before I started blogging I was a heavy contributor on a number of email lists and ran an email list called the Matzav from 2000-2004. You can contact me at: IsraelMatzav at gmail dot com
