Is Peres starting to get it in his old age?

YNet reports that Israeli President Shimon Peres telephoned US President George W. Bush on Monday to wish him well at the conclusion of Bush's term in office (Hat Tip: Hot Air).

Peres said to Bush, "If the world had acted against Hitler the way you acted against Saddam Hussein, the lives of millions would have been saved." The president added, "You made a historic contribution to the entire world and to the Jewish people in particular. We will treasure this forever and will never forget it."

I have a few suggestions for things Shimon might have said to Bush about Israeli leaders (including himself) that would have been 'a historic contribution to the entire world and to the Jewish people in particular.'

If Israel's leaders had acted against Arafat in Beirut the way you acted against Saddam Hussein, the lives of thousands would have been saved.

If Israel's leaders had acted against Arafat in Tunis (and at least left him to rot there) the way you acted against Saddam Hussein, the lives of thousands would have been saved.

If Israel's leaders had acted against Arafat in Ramallah the way you acted against Saddam Hussein, the lives of thousands would have been saved.

If Israel's leaders had acted against Abu Mazen in Ramallah the way you acted against Saddam Hussein, the lives of thousands would have been saved.

If Israel's leaders had acted against Haniyeh in Gaza City the way you acted against Saddam Hussein, the lives of thousands would have been saved.

If Israel's leaders had acted against Zahar in Gaza City the way you acted against Saddam Hussein, the lives of thousands would have been saved.

If Israel's leaders had acted against Ahmadinejad in Tehran the way you acted against Saddam Hussein, the lives of thousands would have been saved.

If Israel's leaders had acted against Assad in Damascus the way you acted against Saddam Hussein, the lives of thousands would have been saved.

If Israel's leaders had acted against Nasrallah in Beirut the way you acted against Saddam Hussein, the lives of thousands would have been saved.
