There are no IDF ground forces currently in Gaza
Another blogger has reported that the IDF is 'entering the Gaza district.' A second blogger (that I have seen) has picked up on the report. The report implies that a ground action in Gaza is imminent. Many media have reported that the IDF is massing troops around Gaza. Many people (including me) believe that ultimately, Hamas will not be disempowered without a ground invasion. But a ground attack in Gaza is not happening right now.According to the IDF spokesperson's office, currently the IDF is using air and naval forces only. All options remain open for the future. At the moment no ground forces are operating in Gaza.

I am praying for the swift victory of Israeli forces over their enemy...though at this point it seems redundant.
A great deal of softening will have to happen before a reoccupation of Gaza is even the cards. If it does happen, then it will be when the Air Force and Navy have done all they can to sever Hamas' lifeline from the air and the sea. Apparently, not yet.
If they mean business, the IDF will not telegraph its ground war schedule either.
The only time Israel lets plans out in advance is when they want the US to stop them.
Shalom Carl,
I'm not so sure the Tzahal isn't in Gaza yet..and my info came earlier from people who ought to know, so I'm stickin' with it.
I think the confusion is that what's going in are recon units, not the whole enchilada, which would squareup with normal practice.Probably Ashkenazi and Barak are still making up their minds whether it's time...
Rob,
The last paragraph of this post was written by the Dover Tzahal's office. And it took a long time until they agreed to let me quote them.
I don't doubt that there could be spies in Gaza - I'm sure there are plenty of 'intelligence assets' there. But I'm also sure there's no one wearing an IDF uniform. And certainly no tanks.
Tomorrow is another day.
