Hamas-dominated 'parliament' introduces Sharia

According to a report in the London-based Arabic daily al-Hayat, in a meeting in the Gaza Strip, the Hamas-dominated 'Palestinian' 'parliament' passed in second reading a measure to introduce Sharia law punishments in the 'Palestinian' reichlet. The measure now awaits the approval of 'moderate' 'Palestinian' President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen.
According to the bill, approved in its second reading and awaiting the signature of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas as the Palestinian constitution demands, courts will be able to condemn offenders to a plethora of violent punitive measures.

Such punishments include whipping, severing hands, crucifixion and hanging. The bill reserves death sentences [what is crucifixion if not a death sentence? CiJ] to persons who negotiate with a foreign government "against the Palestinian interest" and engage in any activity that can "hurt Palestinian morale."

According to the report, any Palestinian caught drinking or selling wine would suffer 40 lashes at the whipping post if the bill passes. Thieves caught red-handed would lose their right hand.
That will sure make 'Palestine' an attractive place to live, won't it?

Now before you all dismiss this and say it will never happen, consider the following. Hamas won the 'Palestinian' election in January 2006. And Abu Mazen is unlikely to risk his life (literally) by vetoing a bill proposed by the Islamists (he has never commuted any of the death sentences handed out to 'collaborators,' which is the closest analogy to this bill). Abu Mazen's number one concern is Abu Mazen's safety.

And if he ignores the bill, what do you think will happen on January 10, 2009? I'd bet that this bill is enacted into law. Then watch how many 'Palestinians' try to move to Israel.

Party on, dudes! They're so eager to go to hell, they'll reenact it right here, right now. Or maybe that should be 'preenact'.
