Name that currency!

Israel is trucking some NIS 3 million in cash to the Gaza Strip because - it is alleged - if they don't, the 'Palestinians' will issue their own currency.
Israel will send guarded trucks from the Brink's Company to the Gaza Strip on Tuesday in order to replace worn out currency accumulated by Palestinians, Army Radio reported.

Israel is interested in preventing a situation in which Palestinians issue an independent currency that would compete with the Shekel.

The process, executed for the first time two weeks ago, involves two stages. First, NIS 3 million will be transferred to the Bank of Israel from various bank branches in the Gaza Strip. In the second stage, only after bills are checked for forgery, banks in the Strip will receive news bills equivalent to that amount.
I have a more fundamental question: What would the 'Palestinian' currency be called? Anyone want to take a shot?

And by the way, anyone want to guess at what its 'exchange rate' would be against world currencies?

Heh.

The logic around preventing them issuing their own currency is .... what?

Someone at the top doesn't get that the more butter the 'palis' are forced to buy, the fewer guns they have money for. Moreover, the higher self interest they can create in terms of stability, the less instability will they tolerate.

Let them ... heck no ... force them to issue their own currency, create their own banks, their own bourses, their own institutions. Drag them kicking and screaming to where they should have been 60 years ago. Instead of bitching about the jews, they should have been building a country. Start em on the path now by forcing them to use their own currency.

This means that metal shops that produce qassams will be busy producing printing presses. Once the inevitable self destructive 'palis culture' takes over, and forgeries start appearing, let them begin to create what amounts to a real legal system and real enforcement of the same.

This way, the next time a rocket lands, Israel can have something to threaten to destroy that the 'palis' hold as valuable.

Considering that the Palis issue their own passports, have their own flag, etc., I say let them come up with their own currency.

Of course, any takers on how long it takes until the Pali money becomes even more worthless than the Zimbabwean Dollar?

The currency will be AK-47 bullets. They'll call them boom-booms.

C'mon! Bring it on! The paleos can not even sustain a micro-economy let alone sustain any semblance of a currency.

A Palestinian currency would be as valuable as Zimbabwe's is. Worthless. You have to have something to back that currency, something behind it. Rockets and bombs are not going to do it.

So let them issue their worthless paper. Within a few years everyone of the will be a billionaire, but too bad that it will take a billion of their "dollars" to buy a loaf of bread.
