Abu Mazen in a panic over possible Gaza invasion

'Moderate' 'Palestinian' President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen (second from left) is in a panic over the possibility that Israel will invade the Gaza stronghold of his good friends Khaled Meshaal (third from left) and Ismail Haniyeh (right). He has appealed to the United States (and to Egypt and Saudi Arabia - why he thinks anyone here talks to Saudi Arabia is beyond me) to stop the Gaza invasion. Of course, it goes without saying that Abu Mazen has done nothing to stop the rocket fire emanating from the Gaza Strip against Israel, nor did he do anything when he controlled the Gaza Strip because he would never fight his 'Palestinian brothers.' But he expects that the Jews will hold their fire while he negotiates a 'peace' with the 'brothers' from Hamas, because, after all, what are a few dead Jews compared with the unity of the 'Palestinian people.'
The appeal came on the eve of a meeting of the Israeli cabinet, which is expected to discuss the latest developments surrounding the Egyptian initiative to achieve a truce between Israel and Hamas.

"We have approached the US administration with an official request to prevent an Israeli military attack on the Gaza Strip," a senior PA official in Ramallah told The Jerusalem Post.

"We fear that [Prime Minister Ehud] Olmert will order an attack on the Gaza Strip to divert attention from the latest corruption scandal."

In Gaza City, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said "These threats, which are not new, don't scare the Palestinians. These threats reflect the security and political crisis facing the leaders of Israel."

PA President Mahmoud Abbas warned that an Israeli military operation would "sabotage" efforts to reach a peace agreement with Israel and undermine his authority in the West Bank.

During meetings in Cairo and Jeddah over the past 48 hours, Abbas urged Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah to intervene with Israel and the US to prevent an IDF military operation, a source close to Abbas said.

Meanwhile, Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat announced that US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice was planning to hold a three-way meeting with the head of the PA negotiating team, Ahmed Qurei, and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in Jerusalem next Monday.

Rice is scheduled to meet with Abbas in Ramallah on Sunday.
By the way, he also threatened to resign again. Heh.

Because the Saudis can get the US to do things it would not otherwise do. Of course with Condi Rice believing that everytime she thwarts Israel, she is stopping the KKK from lynching an innocent black, it is really just piling on, but Abbas knows what we all know is that the Saudis are pulling the strings at the State Department.

I don't think anyone can stop the Israelis once Olmert is out. And G-d help them if Bibi is voted in as PM.

Abbas can relax. The bozos who run Israel have no intention of wiping out the Hamas terrorist regime for good.
