Bush to attack Iran before the end of his term?
Army Radio reported on Tuesday that US President George W. Bush will attack Iran before his term of office ends in January 2009. According to the report, Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have wanted to attack Iran 'for months' but have been held back by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. The report was based on interviews with 'officials in Jerusalem' who met with Bush while he was here last week.The official claimed that a senior member of the president's entourage said during a closed meeting that Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were of the opinion that military action was called for.Could it happen? Yes. Will it happen? Politics may play a role in answering that question. Stupid statements like the one Obama made about Iran on Sunday night make an attack while the Bush administration is still in office more likely.
However, the official continued, "the hesitancy of Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice" was preventing the administration from deciding to launch such an attack on the Islamic Republic.
The report said that according to assessments in Israel, recent turmoil in Lebanon, where Hizbullah de facto established control of the country, was advancing an American attack.
Bush, the officials said, opined that Hizbullah's show of strength was evidence of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's crowing influence. They said that according to Bush, "the disease must be treated - not its symptoms."
In an address to the Knesset during his visit here last week, Bush said that "the president of Iran dreams of returning the Middle East to the Middle Ages."

It would be preferable if America took out Iran's nuclear infrastructure. But if that is not possible, Israel will still have to do the job. Its a situation of "ein breira" - no alternative. The price will be high but the cost will much lower than if Iran instigated a nuclear Armageddon (G-d forbid) later.

I'm an Arabist who has been associated with the Middle East for 20 years. I think that Israel has to take out Iranian nuke facilities the IAEA won't really look into. Purely in self-defense.
Remember, as an Arabist, I am anti-Iran & Shi'ite.... I am not anti-Arab, and am pro-Gulfies as much as I am pro-Israel. I am also pro-Egypt and hate the Alawite regime [Shi'ites wannabes] in Syria]. I think Netanyahu would attack Iran & the US would have his back---until November of this year.
