'Free speech,' Israeli style: No insulting Bush

Six 'youths' were arrested in Jerusalem last night for hanging the poster pictured above around the city. 'Right wing activist' Itamar Ben Gvir, who sent them, was also arrested.
The youths told police that they were paid to hang the posters by extreme right-wing activist Itamar Ben Gvir, of the National Jewish Front.

Ben Gvir was also detained for questioning later in the day. He admitted to having printed the posters, adding that he would continue to do so as it was perfectly within the limits of the law.

He also said police should learn that "free speech is not just for lefties."
Ben Gvir has been arrested enough times to know better than to expect that to happen.

Update 5:49 PM

Israel Radio reported this afternoon that four of the people arrested were released by the police, and the other three were released by a judge who said that while the posters may have been in 'bad taste,' posting them was not a crime.

Of course, that won't stop the police from arresting the next people they see putting up similar posters. Theres no such thing as a 1983 action here.

Israel is a country which is a democratic kleptocracy - free speech exists only for the corrupt elite. Not for Jews.

Doesn't this poster remind you of something, Carl? It seems that we have posted on the same subject, but in quite a different vein.
