Imagine if she were Jewish

London's Sunday Mirror has an interview with Gillian Gibbons, the British schoolteacher who was imprisoned in the Sudan for allowing her second-grade class to call their teddy bear Mohamed. The interview is worth reading. As you read the interview, imagine what would have happened if Gillian had been a Jew who was caught in Gaza or Shchem (Nablus) or southern Lebanon.

Then think of Gilad Shalit who has been a prisoner in Gaza for the past eighteen months and Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev who - if they are alive - have been prisoners in southern Lebanon for the last seventeen months. I wonder if they've gone through anything like what Ms. Gibbons went through....

If she were Jewish, she'd be crazy to go to any Muslim country in the first place.

And if in this hypothetical, the Sudanese government knew she was Jewish, they wouldn't have let her into Sudan in the first place. Badly needed teaching skills, regardless. Better their children remain ignorant and illiterate than be polluted by receiving education from a Jewish teacher!

Those oh-so-devout Muslim Arab Sudanese have been and still are committing genocide against black southern NON-Muslim Sudanese. Then again, it's always OK to kill or otherwise oppress "Kaffirs". Be they black Animist Sudanese; Jews in Israel; Christians in Pakistan, Indonesia and the Philippines; Hindus and Buddhists in India and Thailand; Russians in Chechnya...Who have I left out?

Ah, that "Religion of Peace".
