Kvod HaRav Ovadia: There's a liar knocking at your door

Israel Radio is reporting this morning that as a 'counterweight' to opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu and Likud MK Gideon Saar going to visit two weeks ago, Labor party MK (and failed leadership candidate) Ami Ayalon went to visit Shas' spiritual leader, HaRav Ovadia Yosef, this morning.

Ayalon went to urge Rav Ovadia to support the Annapolis 'process' and keep Shas in the government. Ayalon believes that Avigdor Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu party will leave the government after Annapolis and that if Shas leaves as well, the government's existence will be 'endangered.'

In fact, if both Shas and Yisrael Beiteinu were to leave, the coalition would have less than a majority, as Shas currently has twelve MK's and Yisrael Beiteinu has eleven. If they both leave, the government would be left with fifty-five MK's. The only party they could take in would be Meretz, which would give them exactly sixty, which could lead to a lot of tie votes. But on top of that, the coalition would run the risk of a renegade Kadima MK (and there are plenty of them) finding his or her conscience and voting against the government when it matters. They won't take in an Arab party (especially under these circumstances), because that's the one thing that could cause riots in the streets - there has never been an Arab party in the coalition here. The bottom line is that the coalition would likely be unable to govern if both Yisrael Beiteinu and Shas leave.

Warning to Rav Ovadia: Ayalon is a proven liar and a 19-year old religious woman sat in jail for six months because of Ayalon's refusal to tell the truth:
Last night, at a campaign rally for his candidacy for the Labor party leadership, Ami Ayalon, who was appointed chief of the General Security Service after Rabin was assassinated, made what would be a shocking admission in any other Western country: He admitted that Margalit Har Shefi was falsely charged and falsely convicted. And that the GSS knew it all along:
Former chief of intelligence (Shabak) Ami Ayalon, now a Knesset Member, revealed Thursday night that Margalit Har-Shefi did not realize that Yigal Amir intended to assassinate Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin. She was convicted in 1998 of failing to prevent the murder. In 2001, she began a serving a nine-month prison term, which was terminated by President Moshe Katzav after six months.

Ayalon made the disclosure at a meeting with Labor party supporters in Ashkelon, but he did not explain why he kept silent until now. "Har-Shefi did not know that Yigal Amir wanted to murder the Prime Minister," MK Ayalon said. "I know this from intelligence and was head of the intelligence agency.

"She was part of the crazy reality [at that time]."
Will Ayalon tell the truth in the 'crazy reality' of this time? I doubt it.
