Our 'friends' the Egyptians

The Jerusalem Post is reporting that the Egyptian foreign ministry has slammed a resolution passed by the US House of Representatives on Friday that praised Israel on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem. The resolution also called on President Bush to move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, condemned Egypt and Jordan for attacking Israel during the Six Day War, but praised them for their subsequent peace efforts. The final clause did not mollify the Egyptians:
A foreign ministry spokesman in Cairo said the declaration contravened international law and UN Security Council resolutions.

The spokesman added that the statement also conflicted with the Bush government's position on the issue of east Jerusalem.

He called on all sides not to adopt stances that would "ignite the region."
I wonder if the Egyptians will return to the US any of the $1.7 billion in economic assistance the Americans are giving them this year.
