The Israelis v. the Jews
From the Likud newsletter in honor of Yom Yerushalayim:Here is a telling exchange between Shimon Peres and a Haaretz journalist after his election defeat by Netanyahu in 1996:
Interviewer: "What happened in these elections?"
Peres: "We lost."
Interviewer: "Who is we?"
Peres: "We, which is the Israelis."
Interviewer: "So who won?”
Peres: “All those who do not have an Israeli mentality.”
Interviewer: "And who are they?”
Peres: "Call it the Jews."
As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of our return to Jerusalem under the threat of Iranian nuclear attack, it is more important than ever that the next election comes quickly and is won by the Jews.
