Venezuela stops issuing visas to Israelis
Al-AP is reporting that Venezuela has stopped issuing visas to Israelis through its embassy here, accentuating Thuggo Chavez's harsh criticism of Israel. A Venezuelan official claims that the halt is
only 'technical.' This is just the latest manifestation of what is becoming a diplomatic battle between Israel and Chavez's thugocracy:
Chavez recalled his top diplomat in Israel to protest what he called the "genocide" Israel was committing in Lebanon during Israel's 34-day war with Hizbullah guerrillas. He also termed Israel's military offensive in Lebanon as a "new Holocaust." Such a recall is one of the strongest diplomatic moves short of severing diplomatic relations.
Israel, in response, briefly called its ambassador to Venezuela to Israel for consultations. He has since returned to his post.
But Venezuela's charge d'affaires has yet to return to Israel. Reached on Monday by phone from Venezuela, Hector Quintero said no tourist visas had been issued since his departure, two and half months ago. Quintero said he was unaware of any official policy change in Caracas regarding the entry of Israelis.
He said the visa freeze was related to "technical" issues relating to his absence from Israel, saying it would be addressed if and when he was sent back to Israel.
Cheer up fellow Israelis: Blogger Daniel in Venezuela assures us that it is
Chavez who broke relations with Israel, and not Venezuela. When Chavez is gone - speedily and in our time - we can visit Venezuela again.

Another slug in a long list of slugs.
Wonder how long this dictator will be in power. Seems like we never get rid of them.
Have a blessed week.
Well, it's not like I want to visit Chavez's Venezuela, and neither should any other Jew.
This news is hence not that upsetting to me.
Let Chavez lose out on tourism dollars. No skin off my back.
