Major General Adam: Hezbullah may infiltrate the Lebanese army

Major General Udi Adam, the head of the northern command, told members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee today that he is concerned over the prospect of Hezbullah fighters joining the Lebanese army. Adam said such infiltration could take place as southern Lebanon is handed over to Lebanese control.

But the Lebanese army is already infested with Shiite soldiers who support Hezbullah. So I'm not quite sure why Adam is phrasing this as a prospect rather than as a reality.

Adam also noted the possibility of Hezbullah terrorists hiding among the 'civilians' making their way home to southern Lebanon.

But here's the best part: Adam said IDF troops in Lebanon received clear orders forbidding them from responding to Hizbullah provocations unless the soldiers' lives are in danger. I'm sure Goofy Annan is happy about that.
