Elder of Ziyon: Lebanon, 1946

Elder of Ziyon: Lebanon, 1946

Elder of Ziyon has scanned in an article about Lebanon from the 1946 Palestine Post. It shows how far Lebanon has gone wrong since the early days of its independence:
"We have always been a maritime nation" he said "we are Lebanese who are we? Phoenicians? We are not sure, but we do not believe ourselves to be Arabs, we have not the desert mind. Syria is Arab, she belongs to the desert, but the range of the Lebanon mountains that divides us geographically divides us spiritually as well. Our back is to the East, our face is to the West."
Read it all.

I discuss the coming fall of the Syrian regime at: Syria Has a Problem. Its days are numbered.

Sixty to ninety days.

Thanks for the link, Carl, but I didn't scan it - the Palestine Post is online in searchable, graphical format. I have retrieved many interesting articles from there and gathered most of them on my Palestine Post-ings blog.
