Guns or medicine
On Sunday, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told hunger-striking colon cancer victims, "we'll talk," while telling 'Palestinians' whose government rejected proferred medicines that the Israeli government will help them.Hat Tip: New York Nana
According to Arutz Sheva, the basket of state-subsidized medications and technologies does not include two potentially life-saving medications used to treat colon cancer – Erbitux and Avastin – which could cost up to NIS 200 million a year more. But apparently the patients' suffering is less 'heart-rending' to Olmert than that of 'Palestinians' whose government is more interested in procuring weapons:
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert opened Sunday morning’s cabinet meeting with a statement that he wanted the health basket committee to convene as soon as possible. "We are very sensitive to these patients' suffering," he said. "Their appeals are heart-rending and we will act according to the recommendations of the specially-appointed professional committee.”
He added, “I hope that we will be able to make decisions on these issues soon."
While the colon cancer patients were told to wait for a committee meeting to decide whether to subsidize their medications, however, the cabinet promptly approved the transfer of NIS 50 million in medical assistance to the Palestinian Authority.Note that the money is being transferred to the 'Palestinian Authority' instead of medicines being transferred to hospitals as was under discussion yesterday.
“As a rule we do not hold contacts with Hamas, said Olmert, “because it runs a terror government,” but added that “in light of the complex reality, points of contact are inevitable.” He added, “Where contact can save lives we will do so in a manner that could not imply that we recognize the Hamas government.”
Congratulations Ehud. You've just bought NIS 50 million in weapons and ammunition. How long until the next suicide bomber arrives? Putz....

Carl,
Thank you for the hat tip. This, re Olmert *spit* was something I had to actually read twice.
I am so angry and my heart breaks for the Israelis with Ca of the colon.
So there is money for the 'palestinians', but nothing for the Jews whose taxes will no doubt fund the 'contribution' that will not go for medication, but for weapons or into their pockets?

And he said this with a straight face?
Every day that goes by will be a day lost that might have helped save a life, and the hunger strike will only harm these victims more.
The emperor has no clothes, and he has now exceeded the bounds of decency so far. Has he not one drop of rachmones?
Calling him a putz is way too kind
