Bomb plot closes UK embassy in Jordan

The Sunday Times of London reported yesterday that Britain has closed its embassy in Jordan
...after MI6 received specific intelligence of an Al-Qaeda suicide plot to blow up the building along with American targets in the country.

The government said the move to shut down the embassy in the capital Amman “until further notice” followed information that “terrorists may be in the final stages of planning attacks against westerners and places frequented by westerners”. The statement said the move had been prompted by the security situation in Jordan.

Guess who's the al-Qaeda terrorist behind this?

According to the Times, the Foreign Office

...
has amended the travel advice on its website although it emphasised that it was not telling people not to travel to the country.

Of course not. But 'non-essential' travel to border areas in Israel? That's another story.... (From comparing the two travel advisories that I've linked above - Jordan and Israel - you'd think that Israel is a far more dangerous country R"L. Come see for yourself!).

Update: Australia and Canada have also closed their embassies in Jordan.
