The Banks

Israel Matzav Do you know what's wrong with this country? My poor eldest daughter needs a NIS 4000 (interest free!) loan to pay her tuition - less than $1000. For this, the bank insists that two guarantors come personally to that branch to sign for her. My wife is one guarantor. But the second one (who cannot be me of course) asked that the paperwork be sent to her local branch instead. The bank (Leumi this time) refuses. So it looks like we will hold Hebrew U at bay for another couple of weeks and just pay the tuition outright and lose the free use of the money for a year or so.... Typical bank behavior here (unfortunately, our bank, where we have the best bank officer in the country, doesn't do these loans...).
