Look what Air Force 1 blew in

Look what President Obama brought along with him: Dumb Dumb Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Hat Tip: MFS - The Other News).
Wasserman Schultz ... is [not] a senior member of the congressional leadership, and it’s not clear why they accompanied Obama to Israel other than that they have a personal interest in seeing the country.
Wasserman Schultz is one of the more divisive members of Congress, rankling Republicans frequently with screeching political attacks. Her presence is sure to raise suspicions among Republicans about the president’s political motives for the trip.
It’s possible President Obama feels the need to placate her, having set up his own rival political organization – Organizing for America – that diminishes her role as DNC chair.
The President has plenty of political motives for this trip. Isn't that already obvious?

By the way, White House Dossier has Obama's full schedule on its home page. Funny that we can't get that in Israel.

Carl, there are two additional merits to having Obama visit.

1. Israel is facing an energized campaign of BDS from Europe and American elites: this visit is a glass shard in the eyes of Israel/Jew haters everywhere. The haters took succor in Obama not visiting during his first term.

2. More important, since Obama's Cairo speech, the arab world has imploded and Obama knows it. Where is Egypt today? People are hanging people in the streets due to lack of security. The rich/educated are leaving. Cairo is fragmenting and imploding into an Islamist mess. And for all of Assad's faults, Israel and the US had an 'understanding' with him. He was a rational actor, never attacking Israel or Turkey. Now with the Islamist types, all bests are off. My point: Israel is not the sole friend of the United States, but the only stable actor(with the exception of Turkey). BTW, while King Hussein may be a close friend of Israel, the influx of Syrians is probably making his kingdom yet more unstable.

Bottom line. in an increasingly schizoid, Islamist arab world... Obama can probably only see two stable countries: Turkey and Syria. I'm deeply afraid of Jordan imploding, and Syria and, increasingly, Egypt seem to be coming apart at the seams.

Obama's position may be changing because the arab world is falling apart. Since Obama's Cairo speech, the only constant in the middle east has been the stability of the state of Israel as an ally of the US.

Not only does the US have few friends in the middle east, increasingly, it appears there are fewer rational actors.

Another thought, bringing Wasserman Schultz may have another purpose, a condescending stage prop for any gullible Israelis-"See, some of my best friends are Jews!" How he uses, or tries to use, her presence will be telling.
