I KNOW A JEW WHOSE GRAMPS WAS A COLONEL IN THE TURKISH ARMY IN WW1.

THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE WAS NOT AS BAD TO JEWS IN THE HOLY LAND AS OTHERS WERE.

I've heard that many of the initial Ottoman troops that held off the British/French landings at Gallipoli were Jews from 2nd line formations.
