Video: Ehud Barak on Fox News

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak is currently in the United States, and on Monday night he had an interview about Iran with Fox News' Greta Van Sustern.

This interview is in two parts. Here's the first part. Let's go to the videotape.

And here's the second part. Let's go to the videotape.

Note what Barak says about how high a priority Iran is for Israel and ought to be for the US, after he refuses to talk about the likelihood of an Israeli strike.

When he talks about the 'settlement freeze,' note that Ehud Barak would be one of the most likely cabinet members to support an extension. Recall also that as Defense Minister, Barak would have to approve any new construction in Judea and Samaria. It sounds like short of a Pollard deal, an extension is highly unlikely.

Barak has reportedly been looking for ways to unofficially extend the freeze but his view is a minority one among the Septet that runs Israel.

Unless there's a deal on Pollard or the Palestinians offer a matching concession, don't look for the freeze to be extended at the end of the month.
