Letter from an Israeli doctor to a European friend

This is a letter written by an Israeli doctor (whom I know well) to a European friend who was on one of the boats in the flotilla that was intercepted last Monday. I've removed the identifying information (and I actually do not know the name of the recipient).

Islamic extremists on this ship exploited a lot of very nice and terribly naive people! Those nice people are mostly ignorant and lack the necessary background information to really understand our conflict. The "humanitarian aid" on the ship could have been sent through Israeli borders without problems, as humanitarian aid has always been sent in the past.

As you well know, there are very good reasons for the blockade on Gaza! The only purpose of the blockade is to prevent delivery of arms, ammunition, relevant chemicals, and terrorists.

All Israelis have left Gaza (in a painful internal process for us). Nevertheless, we have had thousands of missiles landing on our civilians for several years! We have not seen any flotillas or sensitive Europeans come to protest these missiles raining down on defenseless civilians, or show any support at all for these civilians.
We will not allow this to happen again!

You have to appreciate that the entire "Palestinian refugee" population is being held hostage by the Islamic leadership for their own political purposes.

Why wasn’t the "Palestinian refugee” issue solved by the 22 Arab countries surrounding Israel with hundreds of millions of people, huge amounts of vacant land, and endless oil money? Because many Islamic leaders are not interested in resolving this problem!

Millions of Jewish refugees were absorbed and rehabilitated after World War II in Israel as well as in other countries around the world. Hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees who were expelled from Arab countries were absorbed into Israel between 1948 and 1973. We have developed a free, advanced democracy against all odds, filled with science and art and compassion. Israel is a country with true freedom of speech, where the citizens freely criticize the government and hold the army accountable to the highest standards of behavior and morality.

I daily operate pro-bono on children from Gaza and from the West Bank. I speak to the families constantly. They describe a corrupt society, corrupt doctors, a corrupt system where nobody cares, with a lack of basic human respect amongst their own people!

See what happened when Hamas took over in Gaza. Within days, they tortured and killed hundreds of their own people from the Fatah. This is all very well documented!
Where are all the billions of Euros sent to Gaza from Europe? They are in private Arab bank accounts in Switzerland! Or, being used to buy arms!

Have you looked at the map? Gaza has a long border with Egypt! Why is this border closed?

The nice people in Gaza must control their own extremist element (as we do). The honest people of Gaza must declare that they will demilitarize Gaza, and work hard to build an honest society. As long as they seek war and bombing, ‘peace flotillas’ will not help!
