Brennan to get a promotion?

In response to John Brennan's search for 'moderates' in Hezbullah, Michael Ledeen explains the organization's rather simple origins (Hat Tip: Instapundit).
Twenty-five years ago, when I was a purported expert on terrorism, Hezbollah was of considerable interest to our intelligence community, and there was a vigorous debate between those who believed it was a Lebanese phenomenon–the product of local conditions–and those who thought it was a Syrian creation. I posed this question to the infamous Manucher Ghorbanifar–who has been portrayed as a totally unreliable source by CIA–and he just laughed. “Why are you laughing?” say I. “Because Hezbollah is a creation of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” says he. “It’s run out of the prime minister’s office.”
Rick Francona wonders why Brennan still has a job.
It is reminiscent of President Obama's earlier proposal to reach out to so-called "moderate elements" of the Taliban (Obama's outreach to the Taliban - a victory for the terrorists) - and just as bright. John Brennan, assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism, proposes that the United States "build up moderate elements" within Hizballah.

Yes, Hizballah, the same Iranian-created and backed Lebanese jihadist militia designated by the U.S. State Department as a foreign terrorist organization, the same Hizballah responsible for the murders of 241 U.S. Marines in Beriut in 1983. The list of Hizballah attacks is long and lethal. Yet, Brennan hopes to "diminish the influence of hard-liners" in the organization. John - they're all hardliners - that's why they are members of Hizballah. You know that, you speak fair Arabic - it is hizb allah - the Party of God.

Why does this guy still have a job? This proposal comes on the heels of Brennan's ridiculous media appearance in which he described our counterterrorism efforts as "we're not lucky, we're good" in the aftermath of the failure of a bomb to detonate in New York City's Times Square.
I asked the same question after he spoke lovingly of al-Quds, and Danielle Pletka opined that he ought to be fired. But instead, Brennan may get a promotion. Although the Washington Times leaves him off the list, Andy McCarthy links to a Weekly Standard piece by Michael Anton that claims that Obama has more confidence in Brennan than he had in outgoing National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair.
Maybe Admiral Blair deserved to be fired and maybe he didn’t. Without knowing more, we can’t know for sure. But we can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that a White House that has “more confidence” in John Brennan on the issue of terrorism is a White House that does not understand or take seriously the fight against terrorism.
Read the whole thing.

Could Brennan end up as Director of National Intelligence? Suffice it to say that he was a candidate for the job when Obama took office but didn't get it because the Obami were afraid that he supported Bush-style interrogation techniques(!).

What could go wrong?

Destroy Hezbollah down to the last man...

IF that means taking out the iranian embassy next time he hides? So be it...

If I was in charge, I'd would at once hit southern lebanon with everything...

dont give hamas, syria and iran any time to react...

sweeping bombing runs with bunker busters, complete infrastructure (including power, water and any and all dams on the litani...

Ground troops? maybe in select spots, but bomb any and all villages with rockets & missiles, do not give 48 hours for the population to flee, make the flee on their own...

Yep I am a war hawk, but SINCE the other side (Hezbollah has posters of atomic fireballs posted all over southern lebanon declaring that israel will be destroyed), iran, who last week threaten israel again, hamas who is genocidal and of course syria who is, well do I really have to lay it all out?)

The bad guys are arming to finish what hitler started...

WHY WAIT?

TAKE THE OUT ONE AT A TIME.

What is the worse case? The world will not like Israel??????

I can live with that

With a guy like Brennan in charge of the American intelligence community, expect the US government to intensify its brown-nosing of Islam and its appeasement of radical anti-American regimes- through "engagement" of course.

That an asinine idiot like Brennan is advising the President would be funny if it wasn't downright so scary.

And unfortunately, it looks like America and its allies would be the paying price of a Brennan promotion for a long time to come. If the Obama Administration hasn't learned from its foreign policy mistakes from its first year and a half in office, its not likely to for the remainder of its term.

Its sure is good news, isn't it now? What could go wrong indeed

There was too much heat on Brennan earlier for the job b/c of the murder of Lt Quarles Harris, Jr. But perhaps now that everyone's totally ignoring Obama's ineligibility & the matters surrounding it, like dead people, maybe Brennan will be suggested again for the job.
