Electric cars for retail sale in Israel in 2011

There are going to be electric cars for retail sale in Israel in 2011 (Hat Tip: Instapundit). They will have a 350-mile range.

I wonder if they will also have a 116% purchase tax (minimum) like regular cars do here.

/sigh

Frankly, after visiting Amsterdam last year, I wish the government would offer incentives for the public to get around on bicycles. Bike lanes, right of way, no import taxes on bikes and accessories.

They could do the same with electric Segways and similar.

But I don't expect it, as it's rare for something of intelligence to come out of Knesset legislation.
