Rice to UN: 'End the anti-Israel vitriol'
Susan Rice, the United States ambassador to the United Nations has called on the UN to end the anti-Israel vitriol. "Member states must once and for all replace anti-Israeli vitriol with recognition of Israel's legitimacy and right to exist in peace and security," she said at Israeli President Shimon Peres’ conference in Jerusalem.That ought to convince them.
She also stressed Washington's commitment to fighting extremism. "We will stand by our friends on the frontlines and we will uphold the inalienable right to self-defence," said Rice.

I find myself agreeing with her. But as she knows the prospect of the UN ever giving up its one-sided obsession with Israel is none. The UN cannot be reformed. And the sooner Israel and the US wake up to that reality, the better they will both be when they leave it for good.
Is this just political rhetoric, or does she actually mean it?
It is rhetoric, otherwise she would have been clearer about the UN's record on Israel - resulting in a more forceful statement.
