Jon Stewart's disgraceful guests

Jon Stewart has a couple of disgraceful guests on his show on Wednesday night for a night of Israel bashing: Mustafa Barghouti and Anna Baltzer (Hat Tip: Red Tulips).

More on Barghouti here and here.

More on Baltzer here and here.

No, there's no pro-Israel counterpoint (perhaps he will try to convince us that ISM activist Baltzer - who is Jewish - is meant to provide balance).

And I thought Stewart's was a comedy show.

What if no one watched him?

"What if no one watched him?"

Carl,

I wish that was true, but the kapo, Jon Stewart is very popular here in the US, especially with young people. What makes his show dangerous, is that a lot of young people in their 20's get all of their 'news' from The Daily Daily Show.

Really, talking about peace between Palistinian and Israelies is Israel bashing?

Es,

What "peace" are you referring to?

It is not "peaceful" to demand that Israel wave the white flag and give up, at the same time that the Arabs are being taught hate propaganda in schools, mosques, and media.

It is not 'peaceful' to demand one Arab state, with presumably Hamas in charge.

They may claim that is 'peaceful,' but sorry, it is in fact 'warful.'

Baltzer and Barghouti are thus in actuality pro-war (for the other side), but use phony 'peace' rhetoric to get their point across.

Love it or hate it, what Baltzer and Barghouti said needs to be heard. That's what democracy is all about. Their needs are just as valid as Israelis. Good for The Daily Show for showing fresh new perspectives. I actually learned a lot from his guests. I'm glad that I watched it!

The whole world begins to see the hysterical child that israel really has become.
The whole world also begins to grow weary of it's tantrums and disrespect for the human race.

"Disgraceful"? What I find disgraceful is the treatment of the Palestinian people. What I find disgraceful is any disagreement of Israeli policy one is labeled "anti semitic".

I guess the other 99% of the media coverage that is pro-Israel will have to suffice for balance.

Wow, do you get this worked up and protest every time there's no *pro-Palestinian* counterpoint offered in response to a pro-Israel (or more accurately, "Israel can do no wrong, no, not ever") commentator?

Hypocrisy and double standards...

I don't get why we can't hear what the Palestinians have to say or moderate Israelis who maybe looking for peaceful and genuinely fair solutions. These people who want the Palestinians to just "disappear" remind me of the worst of South African apartheid or the South during the civil rights movement. Let's be truthful, the right winger Zionists in Israel and in America want to "exterminate" the Palestinians and takeover the entire territory. You wouldn't care whether the Palestinians were completely peaceful and accommodating to the land grab. You still want them to leave their homes and property and get out.

This is absolutely ridiculous character assination. For shame. And shame on Israel.

WHAT PEACE MIGHT THIS BE.

The game is to stifle criticism. Good luck in the palestinian holocaust as the whole world watches.

You're a piece of garbage. God forbid there should be peace you war mongering zionist trash can. There is a special spot in hell for the likes of those who subjugate others, murder innocents and encourage violence. You've already taken most of their land. You could at least have the decency to let them live in peace with equal rights on what they have left. But yeah. The poor Israelis are once again being attacked.

Palestinians and their Arab and Persian puppetmasters won't be happy until Israel is a memory and the Jews are no more. Surrendering to this ridiculous rhetoric is not an option, and thankfully, the Israeli people know that. I wish that my President felt the same way. Palestinians attack and attack and attack and then play the victim. Why haven't you developed any of the land that you do have, instead of teaching your children to throw rocks at Israelis?

Sadly, Carl, I'm positive that most (if not all) of the trash comments come from my fellow Americans. Notice how they don't argue facts or use logic, but simply throw out left-wing buzzwords as well as bigoted epithets. It's a common tactic of the left, and they do it here in America on every subject you could possibly think of.

Btw, Es, talking about "peace" between "Palestinians" and Israelis IS Israel-bashing because
"peace" as defined by the "Palestinians" means No Israel and 5.5 million dead Jews. It is even more particularly Israel-bashing when "Palestinians" get up and try to act like they're some kind of peaceful and reasonable people who don't want to commit genocide (even though they SCREAM for genocide on a daily basis).

the nations hate the Jews because the Jews brought monotheism, the justice system, the education ethic and the awareness that one's life has consequences in this world and the next.

Fact is- Jews were given the land by G-d and that just ticks off the world. It wasn't the UN who created Israel- it was G-d. And this story of nations trying to destroy us, well do you remember Cain and Abel? Esau and Jacob?

We know who you all are. We know what you want. We know what you all can do.

But we know where our help comes from and that should scare you all out of your wits. Really it should.

Israel has the right to be in our land than anyone else. Argue away. Just please don't give us the nonsense that you want peace. You want our land. You want our lives. You want to be us. And it can never be.

Freedom of speech is each person's right- the antisemitic rhetoric just happens to be wrong.
