Oh joy: Iran building new generation of centrifuges with double the separation power

If this story is accurate, Iran may soon be a lot closer to a nuclear weapons than anyone thinks it currently is.
"Our engineers are building a new generation of centrifuges, cascades of 10 or more (of the newly developed) centrifuges are being tested and we hope to announce joyful news in the future regarding the issue," [Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar] Salehi said in his first press conference after being appointed as the Head of AEOI.

He explained that the centrifuge machines currently used in Iran's nuclear installations has a separation power of 2.1, while the new generation of Iran-made centrifuges enjoys a separation power of 5.

Salehi expressed the hope that Iranian experts would be able to improve the separation power of centrifuges to degree 10.

"Degree 10 is achievable and the relevant requirements have even been met in this regard," he added.
In his most recent report on Iran, IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei said that the Iranians were using 'home-made' centrifuges.

More centrifuges enriching more uranium faster. What could go wrong?

With that revelation, the only question left is how soon Iran will get the bomb.

What else could go wrong indeed
