Video: 'Hardliners' force Iranian VP to resign because he said Iranians are friends of Israelis

'Hardliners' have forced the resignation of Iran's Vice President - just three days after his appointment - over comments the Vice President made a year ago that said that Iranians are friends with everyone, 'including Israelis.' The Vice President - Esfandiar Rahim Mashai - is a close friend of Ahmadinejad (he's what we Jews would call a mechutan).

Let's go to the videotape. I'll have the original comments in question after the video.

Mashai's original comments are here. Interestingly, he retracted the comments a year ago.

Mashal was forced to resign because the regime suspected him of being insufficiently radical. The Khomeinists will not tolerate even gestures towards moderation. The new Ahmedinejad government is not going to be filled with people who desire dialogue and rapprochement with the West. Obama's outreach to the Iranian regime is already dead in the water.

What could go wrong indeed
