Awesome: Gaza aid money will go to Hamas

Remember the $5.2 billion in aid money that was pledged to 'rebuild Gaza' including $900 million from the United States pledged by Secretary of State Clinton herself? Remember how one of those anonymous 'US officials' told us that
The money will be channeled through UN and other bodies and will not be distributed via the militant group Hamas, which rules Gaza, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton plans to make the announcement next week at a Gaza donors conference in Egypt.
Well, I have some awesome - just awesome - news for you. Hamas is going to get the money after all.
"All humanitarian aid sent into the Gaza Strip today needs to receive Hamas clearance," a senior defense official told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday. "Hamas uses violence against international organizations, including UNRWA, if they do not cooperate."

Hamas recently published an ad in a Palestinian newspaper warning that "whoever does not follow its orders will be forced to leave Gaza."

The internal Defense Ministry document revealed that on July 12, a meeting was held between UNRWA, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Hamas officials who are in charge of the contractors and engineer unions in the Gaza Strip.

The objective was to establish a mechanism which will be responsible for distributing the billions of dollars pledged for the rehabilitation of the Strip by the US and European and Arab countries.

So far, Hamas has taken control of millions of dollars transferred monthly by Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salaam Fayad to the UNDP and designated for Gazans whose homes were destroyed during Operation Cast Lead last winter.

At the meeting, Hamas officials told the UN representatives they wanted to be able to draw up the list of people who would receive the money, according to the Defense Ministry document. The sides decided to set up joint committees and to continue to meet in the future.

"This is an indication to us that there is no effective mechanism that can be established that will bypass Hamas and ensure the money goes straight to the Palestinian people," the senior defense official said.
Awesome. Do what Hamas tells you or spend the winter living in a tent.

And UNRWA's reaction to this?
"UNRWA distributes its aid on basis of need. Humanitarian need dictates the way we distribute aid and nothing else."
Just like they hire terrorists because they need to have jobs too. Awesome. Just awesome.

What 'negotiating partner'?

As I commented here earlier this week, Hamas gets $1 billion from Obama while Israel gets the back of his hand.

This article shows why giving aid to 'palestinians' is a mistake.

Economics 101. Guns or butter. If you remove the choice from them by supplying them butter, they can get the guns on their own.

So stop supplying them butter. And put a legal edge to it. Anyone providing material support to Hamas, directly or indirectly, needs to be brought to court in Israel, in the US, and other nations with at least a nominal understanding of how to deal with terrorism in the courts, and they should be made to pay. Failure to do so, for state actors, should result in immediate and harsh sanctions, seizing of assets, and other mechanisms to compel lawful behaviour.

Hamas is a terror organization. Talking to them and providing them aid is illegal. Anyone doing so ought to be punished.

Of course its going to go to Hamas. For a world bent on believing the worst of Jews, its apparently a no-brainer to subsidize Palestinian rejectionism.

What could go wrong indeed

US "government" (I hesitate to call it a real government) hypocrisy at its worst. Hamas is a banned terror organization. Hamas-controlled Holyland Foundation members who channeled money to Hamas now sit in a US prison. Now, the US "government" turns around an channels the money - and much more of it - through the PA to Hamas. Brilliant.

Actually, I think this is intentional. Dear Leader Hussein wants to "reward" Hamas for their part in the election campaign. You can be sure that he is enamored of Hamas and its goals.

This is actually good news.

I knew this would happen, and as such, I am happy that it has been revealed the money will go to Hamas.

It was a guarantee the money would go to Hamas anyway, and in its stead, UNRWA (same thing as Hamas in practical terms).

Better it's exposed.

I got a better idea Kranky... give them squat until Hamas beats it. Otherwise they can pound sand.
