And on top of the fee, he gets to stay in the United States for 'medical treatment' (that is available here in Israel) thereby avoiding a required pre-indictment hearing on the corruption charges against him.

Considering Ehud Olmert's record of failure as Prime Minister, I wouldn't even listen to his speech for free much less than for $70,000.
He left a mess in the lap of Israel's new government that has to be cleaned up. Had he defeated both Hezbollah and Hamas - then he would have had something worth talking about to the world!
