EU: Gaza action defensive

A flying pigs moment.

The European Union announced tonight that it views Israel's action in Gaza as defensive. What a difference it makes having the Czechs as head of the EU rather than Fwance.
European Union president, the Czech Republic, said on Saturday an Israeli ground offensive in Gaza was "defensive, not offensive" action.

"At the moment, from the perspective of the last days, we understand this step as a defensive, not offensive, action," Czech EU presidency spokesman Jiri Potuznik said.

Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg is leading an EU delegation to the region on Sunday, and Potuznik said the presidency will wait to see the results of that visit.

The Czechs know all about European perfidy. Israel is delighted to have their support. Israel has never had aggressive designs on its neighbors. But there are those who mistake Israel's desire for peace as weakness, as a national resignation to the country's eventual demise. That has been dispelled. Israel is capable of defending itself when the situation arises. War is a necessary evil. No decent person wants it but in a situation like this, imposed by Hamas' rejection of Israel's right to exist, it is indeed time for war.

Considering what France and Britain did to Czechoslovakia, no wonder the Czechs are pro-Israel. Any nation that was destroyed by appeasement would be.
