About that Russian air defense system

Iran claimed last week that Russia was delivering its state of the art S-300 air defense system to Tehran, a claim that the Russians have denied. If the claim turns out to be true, it could considerably raise the cost of a US or Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear weapons. Let's go to the videotape to find out why.

Note that the interviewee mentions the PMU-1. The PMU-1 has been operational as part of the S-300 system since at least 2000. And the Greeks have it, which means that the Israelis trained against it last summer.

But there is a PMU-2 on the market. If the Iranians are only getting the PMU-1, that would not be such bad news. But I suspect that they are getting the PMU-2 also.

More about the S-300 here.
