Who is Samir al-Kuntar?

For those of you who have been too lazy to follow the innumerable links I have posted to the story of how Samir al-Kuntar destroyed the Haran family, now I have it on video (Hat Tip: NY Nana). Let's go to the videotape.

Carl - we both know the value of Jewish blood is cheap in Israel. I had to say it bluntly but an Arab terrorist is worth more to Israel's craven leaders than a dead Jewish family. After all, they're only Jews. right - and they deserve what they get. Its just sickening and I'd say a lot more but the fear of Heaven restrains me.

I am still sick to my stomach over the weakness of Olmert and his merry band of thugs.

I watched the video...and all I could think of is the mother, and the massacred children, and of what al-Kuntar did to those precious, innocent children. A 4- year old? It keeps bringing back the memory of Shalhevet Pas HY"D, who was only 10 months old. I will hug my 3 grandchildren a little tighter....especially the granddaughter who was the same age as Shalhevet.

The rationale for releasing the terrorists in an 'exchange', especially al-Kuntar, on the part of Israel? It totally escapes me.

Sweetmeats and rifles being shot in the air in Lebanon? Ululating in joy? Maybe some of the rifles will mis-fire?

Ny Nana, I know. Let's not blame the Arabs. They are who they are and I don't expect them to ever behave like civilized people and the larger point that's overlooked in what happened today, is Israel could have said the price is too high and walked away from the deal. Even the hostages' families would have understood. This national humiliation was entirely self-inflicted. Its not like Hezbollah held a gun to the head of Israel's leaders and said you have to release those terrorists or else. It might have been one thing to do it if Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev had been alive. The price would have still been high but I can understood the need to redeem Jews from captivity. But Hezbollah had no such leverage. There was no point in doing such a one sided trade as was done today.

I'm sorry I found out about this blog over such sad circumstances. A colleague at the blog "Dean's World" mentioned this place in the comments to a post I made about this very subject. You can read that post here: http://www.deanesmay.com/2008/07/16/a-fair-trade/

While I am not Jewish I love Israel as much as I love the United States and seeing Israel do this to herself is heartbreaking.

Anyway, I look forward to visiting this blog more often.

Hat Tip to Carl - Treppenwitz has some good things to say about the Second Lebanon War and what Israel should have done... and needs to do in the future. If the enemy is NOT going to keep Israeli POWs alive, then Israel should announce it is going to capture Arab terrorists and summarily execute them. The Arabs are not going to be deterred from murdering Jews by expressions of Israeli niceness and restraint. They only understand the same language they themselves employ and that is the only thing that will stop them from committing Nazi atrocities in the future.

I am not an Israeli and have no connection with Israel. On one hand, I am extremely troubled by Israel's capitulation to the cruel, murderous, terrorists. Israel appeared to be trying to outdo the Europeans. This is from my perspective as a humanitarian. But, on the other hand, how could I tell your government who have a responsibility for a tiny nation surrounded by hostile Muslims/Arabs? Will such capitulation make your state any safer? Will the Arabs moderate their demand for wiping out Israel? From what I know from Islamic beliefs and history, I don't believe that would happen.

I am the poster on LGF who lost my sweet cousin Gila to a homicide bomber in Jerusalem, in 2002. She was 19. This after losing my best friend on 9-11 at Cantor Fitzgerald. I posted yesterday with a heavy heart and lots of anger, even calling for military force so overwhelming in any "next" battle that the entire mid east paradigm would be altered forever. I am not opposed to using limited Nukes if necessary to destroy Nananatz and other Nuclear sites in Iran. However, I do also feel, that no matter how barbaric these animals are, and given the fact they sacrifice their own children without a thought, we can never ever become them. Their will never be a moral equivalence between Israelis and the likes of Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad. These are truly evil regimes, a truly brainwashed set of followers.

The "prisoner" exchange was wrong. But we must control our anger and win this battle with our dignity and respect for ourselves intact. Or else we become no better than them.

As for the rest of the world, they already despise Israel and accuse Israel of such atrocities anyway, so their opinion is irrelevant. We must be strong, and when we strike next time it must be a raging storm that completely destroys any will of the enemy. Complete capitulation like the Nazi's and the Japanese.

Steve - is that what they call cowardice and capitulation to the enemy these days? Of course, Jews are not like Arabs. But I think instead of showing how considerate and liberal and humane Jews are - its time they showed their enemy how merciless, how intolerant and cruel they are towards those who do evil. The Torah commands the Jew to destroy evil without mercy. Sparing an evil doer is displaying the mercy of a fool. Incidentally, when King Saul spared KIng Agag the Amalekite from the sword, it fell upon the Prophet Samuel to deliver justice. Thus, the best way to deal with the enemy of the Jew is to kill him. If Israel had been remorseless against Arab Nazis from the very beginning, your sweet, beloved cousin Gila would be alive today. Its time to stop turning the other cheek and trying to understand those who want Jews dead. That's the short and long of what I'm saying here!
