'And I saw Satan laughing with delight'

At Israel at Level Ground, Dave Bender, who covered the Second Lebanon War extensively from the front, has a retrospective that includes many screen captures from Israel Television's coverage of Wednesday's events.
There must be a proper closure for the families, resolution of the awful consequences of the war, as far as Hizbullah... and vengeance against them and their supporters; yes, accurate, timely and incisive vengeance for Israel against its enemies, in this debacle. There will be, I pray.

And soon, for all our sakes.

Check it out.

If I'm not mistaken, Haim Nahman Bialik, Israel's national poet, has an oft quoted line: "for the death of a small child, Satan has not yet invented revenge." And the Haran family that was murdered by Samir Kuntar has not yet had the death of their small children avenged. Where is the justice for Einat and Yael when this murderer walks free upon the earth?

For all our sakes Isreal needs to balance the books...a country cannot survive so many blows to its pride without exacting revenge...with gods help soon.

Thanks for the link, Carl.

To Normanf:

I might be adding to that Bialik quote (which, I believe was referring to the Holocaust, and was an excellent commentary here), but seem to remember something like this (loose translation):

"When faced with such, Satan himself is ashamed and bewildered, wondering what possible punishment could he inflict on the killers of children."

(Slightly off-topic)
Israeli TV Channel 9 (broadcasting in Russian) transmitted a phone conversation with a student of Haifa University who said that yesterday and today Arab students in the campus were celebrating return of Quntar to Lebanon. They were handing out candies and pitas.

No other Israeli media reported about this events.

I also read in other Russian blogs that similar celebrations were held in East Jerusalem, Yaffo and in Arab villages all over the country

Hutzpan, given the ethical standards of Ehud Olmert and company - they're not fit to lecture Jews about what it means to behave courageously. They are the very antithesis of true honor and courage. I expect the Arabs to be savage beasts who seek to kill Jews - that is their nature. But I have given up hope Israel's leaders would stop its war upon Jews and giving away Jewish land to the same enemy bent upon inflicting a Second Holocaust upon the Jewish people.
