And again: Terror in Jerusalem

A 49-year old Rabbi has been stabbed outside the Damascus Gate entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem this morning. The Rabbi has been hospitalized in moderate condition and is being treated for a stab wound to the neck. His life was saved by a student who was accompanying him.

The Damascus Gate is the direct access to the 'Muslim Quarter' of the Old City, and many - if not most - of the terror attacks in the immediate vicinity of the Old City have taken place near it. Personally, I avoid using the Damascus Gate to access the Old City except on the holiday of Shavuot when there is extensive police and army protection.
