I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. If I knew the answer to that question for sure, I would be a wealthy man.
My view on it is that much of the Jewish community has replaced Judaism with Liberalism as their religion. They have become entranced by the belief that if it's liberal it's Jewish. I've discussed this several times in this blog (including in the big post a couple of weeks ago where I discussed the Republican Jewish coalition ads).
Many Jews are also caught in a time warp where they believe that colluding with right wing Christians is going to bring about the establishment of Christianity as the US national religion and make life for Jews more difficult. But that only explains it in the US and not in Europe and in Israel.
